In October 2024 and in light of the second year of the project EREP, the consortium met again to discuss recent results in remanufacturing. The project meeting took place in Perlach, Germany, at the Siemens Technology laboratory. There, the project results from all partners and work-packages are combined and demonstrated in an industrial environment.
The project demonstrator is constructed with the aim of designing remanufacturing processes in a way that is more appealing for industrial needs and applications. The upcoming sub-goal is to align the process monitoring data (live) with the data from simulation (target-value). For the additive process (WAAM) the manufacturing relevant quality parameter is the temperature, and in case of the subtractive process it is the spindle torque. Additionally, a life cycle assessment of the production plant is conducted. Finally, this results in a virtually continuous hybrid process chain which soon will be implemented in Siemens NX.
